Finding order
amidst complexity.

Anthromes

01

Anthromes are anthropogenic biomes: the intertwined systems of people, places and the rest of life. They are shaped by how societies live, produce, govern and relate to the planet—and in turn shape the possibilities for biodiversity, health and wellbeing.

Based in the School of Biosciences at the University of Sheffield, Anthrome Labs is a research group working to understand these complex systems and find leverage points for change. We apply quantitative approaches to trace interactions between people and planet, making complex dynamics more legible in pursuit of society’s greatest challenges.
